Privacy policy
Lading is made by Jeanese Latiolais. This page explains what the app does with your information. The short version: your boxes, photos and scans stay on your iPhone, and I don't collect any of it.
What I collect
Nothing. Lading has no account, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking, and it contains no third-party analytics or advertising code. The app does not send your information to me or to any server I run.
What Lading stores on your iPhone
To do its job, Lading keeps this on your device:
- Boxes: number, description, room, Priority and Fragile flags, and photos.
- Rooms, with their names, codes and colors.
- Your current and destination addresses, if you type them in.
- Vehicle license plates you add so scans can be tied to a vehicle.
- Scan history: which box was scanned, when, and onto which vehicle.
- Descriptions you accepted or typed, used to improve suggestions for similar boxes on your iPhone.
This data is in your iPhone's storage and is included in your normal iPhone backups. Deleting a box removes its photos. Deleting the app removes the data on that iPhone.
Camera and photos
Lading asks for camera access to photograph the contents of a box and to scan labels. You can say no and still use the app: choose photos from your library instead, and type box numbers on the Scan tab. Photos you choose from your library are shared with Lading one at a time through Apple's photo picker, so Lading never gets access to your whole library.
Photo suggestions happen on your iPhone
When you add photos, Lading suggests a description such as Kitchen or Books. It uses Apple's on-device image recognition and text recognition and, on iPhones that support it, Apple's on-device language model. Your photos are not uploaded to me or to any other service for this.
Purchases
If you buy Lading Unlock, the purchase is handled entirely by Apple. I don't see your payment details, name or Apple Account. The app only checks with Apple whether this Apple Account has unlocked it.
iCloud sync
Lading can sync your boxes, photos and scans between your own devices using Apple's iCloud (CloudKit). iCloud sync is on by default. When sync is on, that data is stored in your private iCloud container. It is protected by your Apple Account, counts toward your iCloud storage, and is not visible to me. You can turn sync off in Settings, then iCloud. Deleting the Lading app from your iPhone does not delete what is already in iCloud. To remove it, open Settings on your iPhone, tap your name, then iCloud, then Manage Storage (or Manage Account Storage), choose Lading, and delete its data.
Printing and sharing
When you print a label or tap Share PDF, Lading hands the file to the printer, app or person you choose. What happens to it after that is covered by that printer's or app's own policy. Labels do not show a box's contents unless you turn that on in Settings.
Beta testing
If you join the beta through Apple's TestFlight, Apple collects TestFlight's own crash and usage reports under Apple's policies, and I can see crash reports and any feedback you choose to send through TestFlight. If you email me, I see your email address and what you write. I use it only to fix Lading and to reply to you. Lading itself still sends me nothing.
Children
Lading is not directed at children, and because I collect no personal information, there is none to collect from them.
Your choices and rights
Because I hold none of your data, there is nothing for me to access, correct, export or delete on your behalf. You control everything yourself in the app, in your iPhone's Settings and in your iCloud storage settings. If you have a question, write to me.
Changes
If Lading ever changes in a way that affects your privacy, I will update this page and the app's privacy details on the App Store before the change ships, and note the new date above.
